Por norma general debemos distinguir entre:
- Cuáles son los requisitos de un contenido/actividad para darse por completada y/o superada. Esto dependerá de cómo esté programada la unidad o actividad. Puede ser necesario, por ejemplo, visitar todas las páginas o quizás sea necesario superar un cuestionario con una nota determinada. Las unidades/actividades creadas con plantillas de learningMaker tienen un funcionamiento predeterminado para su superación y completitud. Para conocer cómo se dan por completadas las actividades o unidades creadas con learningMaker, revisa los siguientes apartados:
- Qué datos almacena y cómo los muestra la plataforma LMS. Es decir, cuando se van cumpliendo los requisitos que hemos definido para dar por completada una actividad ¿cómo y cuándo los muestra la plataforma LMS? En este caso, dependerá del tipo del estandar de seguimiento que utilicemos para su publicación, es decir, del protocolo de comunicación que apliquemos entre el contenidos/actividad y la plataforma LMS.Por defecto, en todas las undidades/actividades creadas con learningMaker:
- Se registra y almacena el avance del alumno (pantallas visitadas) y, cuando se vuelve a iniciar el contenido, se recupera la última posición.
- Se almacena la respuesta de preguntas de los cuestionarios y/o preguntas de refuerzo. Si el alumno accede por segunda vez, verá las respuestas que dió a las preguntas.
A pesar de este comportamiento común, existen peculiaridades sobre el comportamiento de las unidades/actividades creadas con learningMaker, según la publicación utilizada, dentro de nuestro LMS learningCentral.
Contenidos publicados en SCORM 1.2
Los contenidos publicados con SCORM 1.2. registran el seguimiento del alumno en un único campo del LMS, denominado "suspend-data". En alguna plataformas el campo "suspend-data" tiene un tamaño limitado por lo que, si una unidad es muy larga y/o cuenta con muchas preguntas y la posibilidad de realizar varios intentos, cabe la posibilidad de que el seguimiento no se registre correctamente si la cadena de información que se genera es muy larga. En learningCentral este campo no está limitado, por lo que no existe restricción.
Finalización de la unidad: En la mayoría de las plataformas LMS, es imprescindible cerrar la unidad, es decir, cerrar la pestaña del navegador, para que se envíe y se registre el grado de avance y/o nota obtenida por el alumno. Por lo tanto, para contenidos que se vayan a visualizar en móviles, se recomienda activar el botón "Cerrar" (ver cómo en Aptdo 2.4. de la plantilla Basic Netex). Con learningCentral NO es imprescinbile cerrar la unidad. El LMS registra y muestra cada acción que realiza el alumno (cambiar de pantalla, respuestas a preguntas...) por lo que, aunque el alumno no cierre la unidad, se guarda su grado de avance y/o nota obtenida.
Contenidos publicados en SCORM 2004
Los contenidos publicados con SCORM 2004 permiten registar más datos que SCORM 1.2, sin ninguna limitación de espacio ni caracteres.
Finalización de la unidad: Con Scorm 2004, tanto en learningCentral como en la mayoría de las plataformas, es imprescindible cerrar la unidad, es decir, cerrar la pestaña del navegador para que se envíe y se registre el grado de avance y/o nota obtenida por el alumno. Si no se cierra la unidad, es habitual que se pierda el seguimiento y no se registre ni la nota ni su grado de avance. Es por eso que, para contenidos que se vayan a visualizar en móviles, se recomienda activar el botón "Cerrar" (ver cómo en Aptdo 2.4. de la plantilla Basic Netex).
Contenidos publicados con TinCan / xAPI
Los contenidos publicados con TinCan registran todas las interacciones realizadas por los alumnos, sin ninguna limitación de espacio ni caracteres. Es una publicación ideal cuando tendemos unidades largas o con muchas preguntas. Además, es el único tipo de seguimiento que permite almacenar el seguimiento de los alumnos cuando no tienen conexión a Internet. Por lo tanto, es el tipo de publicación que se deberá utilizar para utilizar los contenidos en learningCloud Mobile.
Finalización de la unidad: en esta publicación NO es imprescindible cerrar la unidad, es decir, cerrar la pestaña del navegador. El contenido envía cada interacción/acción del alumno (avance de pantallas, respuesta a preguntas) y el LMS registra en tiempo real el grado de avance y/o la nota obtenida. Es una publicación ideal para utilizar en entornos de movilidad, donde los alumno no suelen cerrar las pestañas del navegadorAs a general rule we must distinguish between:
- What are the requirements of a content/activity to be considered completed and/or exceeded. This will depend on how the unit or activity is scheduled. - What data is stored and how it is displayed by the LMS platform. In other words, when the requirements we have defined for the completion of an activity are met, how and when does the LMS platform show them? In this case, it will depend on the type of tracking standard we use for its publication, that is, the communication protocol we apply between the content/activity and the LMS platform, by default, in all the units/activities created with learningMaker:
- The student's progress is recorded and stored (screens visited) and when the content is restarted, the last position is retrieved.
- The answer to questions from questionnaires and/or reinforcement questions is stored. If the student agrees a second time, he will see the answers he gave to the questions.
Despite this common behavior, there are peculiarities about the behavior of units/activities created with learningMaker, according to the publication used, within our LMS learningCentral.
Content published in SCORM 1.2
The contents published with SCORM 1.2. record the tracking of the student in a single field of the LMS, called "suspend-data". On some platforms the "suspend-data" field is limited in size, so if a unit is very long and/or has a lot of questions and the possibility of multiple attempts is present, the tracking may not be properly recorded if the chain of information generated is very long. In learningCentral this field is not limited, so there is no restriction.
Completion of the activity: On most LMS platforms, it is essential to close the unit, i.e. close the browser tab, so that the degree of progress and/or grade obtained by the student can be sent and recorded. Therefore, for content to be displayed on mobile phones, it is recommended to activate the "Close" button (see Section 2.4. of the Basic Netex template). With learningCentral it is NOT necessary to close the activity. The LMS records and displays each action performed by the student (changing screens, answers to questions...) so that, even if the student does not close the activity, the degree of progress and/or the grade obtained is saved.
Contents published in SCORM 2004
The contents published with SCORM 2004 allow you to register more data than SCORM 1.2, without any limitation of space or characters.
Completion of the activity: With Scorm 2004, both in learningCentral and on most platforms, it is essential to close the activity, i.e. close the browser tab so that the degree of progress and/or score obtained by the student is sent and recorded. If the unit is not closed, it is common for tracking to be lost and neither the note nor its degree of progress to be recorded. That is why, for content to be displayed on mobile phones, it is recommended to activate the "Close" button (see Section 2.4. of the Basic Netex template).
Content published with TinCan / xAPI
The contents published with TinCan record all the interactions made by the students, without any limitation of space or characters. It is an ideal publication when we have long units or units with many questions. In addition, it is the only type of tracking that allows you to store tracking of students when they do not have an Internet connection. Therefore, it is the type of publication that should be used to use the contents in learningCloud Mobile.
Ending the activity: In this publication it is NOT necessary to close the activity, i.e., close the browser tab. The content sends each interaction/action of the student (screen advance, answer to questions) and the LMS records in real time the degree of progress and/or the grade obtained. It is an ideal publication for use in mobile environments, where students do not usually close their browser tabs.
